  • Overview

    Sales Engineers work as an integral part of the sales team and are responsible for selling services and retaining revenue by providing technical customer support to assigned accounts. The Sales Engineer interacts with customers to execute the technical aspects of the sales strategy by developing appropriate solutions and building technical relationships. The SE is able to translate customer needs into specific, deliverable requirements and solutions. The SE resolves technical issues arising during the sales engagement, helps customers define specifications and requirements, develops solutions, and provides technology presentations to both technical and management-level audiences.

    Responsibilities

    • Engage with customers in a pro-active manner to establish requirements. Provide advice and guidance to customers where needed. Be responsive to requests for information on technical and commercial (cost related) issues.
    • Work closely with the sales team to ensure that technical designs are fully costed ready for commercial approval.
    • Develop bespoke solutions for specific customer requirements, and wherever possible promote the euNetworks product set, network capabilities and brand proposition
    • Act as customer advocate for pre sales activities
    • Where appropriate, develop innovative solutions that extend the sale, increase revenue and/or reduce costs and contribute to the business case
    • Define technical specification for off-net requirements.
    • Present and demonstrate the technical integrity of the solution, and be accountable for the cost effectiveness of the solution.
    • Be able to articulate designs effectively to non-technical audiences.
    • Work at the interface between Sales Engineering and the Service Activation team to ensure effective handover.
    • Monitor trends and developments in network technology to improve professional expertise and technical capabilities. Absorb the organisational learning from across the entire euNetworks sales engineering function

    Qualifications

    • Minimum requirement is for a first Degree in a scientific or technical discipline
    • 2+ years relevant experience in the telecommunications sector, including experience in Sales Engineering/Pre Sales. Earlier experience may have been as a Service Activation or Network Engineer.
    • Advanced technical knowledge in areas such as routing, switching, Ethernet, IP, MPLS, VPLS, DWDM, optical technology and dark fibre
    • Strong applications skill set across network inventory applications, Microsoft Office applications including Visio, Salesforce.com, Google Earth KMZ’s.
