Project: Developing more effective new business acquisition
Based in Frankfurt, the project will support the German New Business Team with several different administrative tasks, giving the Intern the opportunity to experience working in a fast-paced sales environment.
The intern will split worktime at euNetworks into separate time slots to collaborate with all Account Manager’s in the team with their different needs, for example; creating and up-dating Salesforce.com with accurate records of meetings and client conference calls, creating new leads, accounts (following meetings or trade fairs, customer events etc.), and also creating new acquisition lists/reports for cold visits and cold calls. The Intern will accompany the Account Manager in his/her daily work and become familiar with the sales role.
Throughout the project, the intern will seek proactive feedback on how useful his/her work was in supporting the Account Manager. Based on the feedback, the Intern will produce statistics (number of new leads/accounts, total number of face-to-face meetings and client conference calls, successful cold calls and cold visits), so that this can be used internally to improve euNetworks’ new business acquisition. By the end of the 8-week programme, the Intern will present a summary of findings on the Account Manager role, with suggestions on how to improve the daily administrative work.

Information Technology Internship
Project: Universal, Secure, Simplified Access to File Stores
The aim of the project is to identify a solution that simplifies access to data stored on file servers.
The challenge is that different operating systems and hardware such as laptop computers, tablets or smartphones require a universal approach to access data in a secure manner. In addition, euNetworks’ employees might be travelling and have to access data from public Internet or might want to use their BYOD. Cyber security must be guaranteed. An analysis of how different teams in the organisation could control access to their data, for example sharing files and folders with business partners or internal peers would be an important part of the project. Finally, a presentation would be prepared, giving a comparison of functionality, ultimately to outline strength and weaknesses of the different solutions available on the market, including total cost of ownership and the return on investment.
Business Intelligence and Information Analysis Internship
Project: Implementation of business intelligence tool
Assist with the implementation of a business intelligence tool to pull together relevant business information for use by senior management. You will be pulling together relevant data sets to allow users and managers to identify trends via interactive visualisations. Also, you may be involved in clarifying requirements, with an expectation that you will be able to ask relevant questions about different scenarios. This internship is likely to focus on reporting of Sales pipeline and the net movement in recurring revenues.
Network Software Development Internshipn
Project: Network Automation and Service Assurance
The candidate will focus on assisting the Service and Systems Engineering team in building network automation tools. In particular, the role would include helping enhance the current network monitoring platform based on Splunk software, assisting the Tier 3 team at our Network Operations Centre with developing automated service provisioning tools, and working on the automated network inventory reconciliation platform. The main objective of this project is to improve network automation within euNetworks and scalability of our business.
Finance and Corporate Development Internship
Project: Improving calculation of return on investment
The project will involve working with Finance and IT leads to help extract more meaningful data from Salesforce.com for actual CapEx costs relating to euNetworks’ installed services. This will enable the company to overcome limitations associated with analysis using Budgeted CapEx and would facilitate improved calculation of ROI for customer Capex investments, potentially allowing for more structured capture, visibility and reporting of these costs on Salesforce.com
Finance and Procurement Internship
Project – Order-to-bill process
This is an excellent opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of the order-to-bill process and how this links to the negotiation of the products and services procured by the organisation. Reconciling the vendor invoice to the purchase order in Salesforce.com, creating the Vendor Document, exporting to Navision and subsequently to payment.
The Intern will also be involved in a number of small projects allowing them to actively develop or improve on existing euNetworks’ process, and to contribute to improving their effectiveness.
Project : Colocation Lifecycle / FRA25 shut-down
The location shut-down of a euNetworks colocation facility results in comprehensive migration activities, as a number of customer services need to be migrated to new locations. This includes services based on euNetworks dark-fibre infrastructure as well as on 3rd-party tail circuits. Customer circuits connect to different network platforms such as Long-Haul, Metro WDM, Ethernet and Internet. A network upgrade project has been started to provide the replacement network nodes.
Services have been identified.and need to be classified and migrations required have to be identified. This includes definition of replacement location and network node, including the requirement for diversity between different services of a customer.
Replacement Services shall be planned at low level including network resource assignments (ports, vlans, addresses) and configuration shall be prepared.
The intern is expected to work with Salesforce holding customer and network databases, and to cooperate with different teams such as Dark Fibre, Carrier Relations and Deployment Engineering. Expected outcomes include any changes/upgrades required to accommodate all replacement services and to group the migrations according to operational needs. This will be taken as input for project managers to run the migration and for Tier3 to prepare reconfigurations.
A further task is to identify the profitability of leased managed colocation space compared to euNetworks operated colocenters - including migration activities required or for any new builds.
Project - Customer service quality measurement for Ethernet and Internet services
Ethernet and Internet connectivity services provided to customers need to comply to a number of different items, such as throughput, and jitter, Internet delays, voice traffic and class of service performance. The aim of the project is to define an updated measurement framework for these product sets.
The intern shall collect the quality requirements per product both from internal specifications (SLA, Product description, Network design) and from external data (industry standards, customer applications). Requirements shall be defined as quantifiable unit and standardized test procedures shall be evaluated against these requirements.
Common field testers used by I&C contractors shall be prepared for such tests if possible.
Test procedures built into current telecoms equipment (e.g. Juniper, Huawei) used in euNetworks platforms shall be verified and included if these help performing tests. Technical requirements shall be defined to enhance euNetworks platform to support any tests not technically or economically possible today.
The intern is expected to work with euNetworks and vendor documents, to communicate with CSD, NOC and Tier3 departments and externally with both I&C contractors and with test equipment suppliers (e.g. Veex, Spirent). The intern will work in a network test environment to verify results.
Prevous candidates have all been at university (at different stages), but the decision on the right candidate will be taken by the hiring manager.
